Trial Gardens
Vermont, Connecticut, New York
We are gardeners and our work is directly influenced by ongoing experiments in our three Trial Gardens. Different sizes, in different hardiness zones, elevations, soils, wetness and hydrologic conditions, these gardens are where we test plants, propagation methods and management practices. Ongoing work in the Trial Gardens began in 2020 and, as experiments do, they continue to evolve.
The Vermont and Connecticut landscapes are both gardens woven into former agricultural landscapes with opportunities for design through removal, management and the cultivation of existing seedbanks. In contrast, the Brooklyn garden was previously covered by decking and compacted by construction.
